Herds of deer and elephants crossing the road, dancing peacocks, grazing bison, and roaming wild boar are regular sights for passengers. Tourists can also stay overnight in AC KSRTC buses converted into rooms — either a budget dormitory facility or a deluxe family suite.

- Sultan Bathery route: a 60 km stretch through Moolamkavu, Odappallam, Karipur, Valluavadi and Vadakkanadu to Ponkuzhy at the Kerala–Karnataka border; on return to Sultan Bathery town, the bus takes a second jungle loop toward Irulam village through the Kurichiad forest ranges.
- Mananthavady route: a 60 km stretch through forest-zone roads via Tholppetti, Bavali and Thirunelli.
- The bus doesn't enter the restricted sanctuary zone, but covers most of the hamlets on the forest's edge.
- When entering the forest, all lights inside the bus are switched off — please stay silent and avoid moving around inside the bus.
- Don't throw plastic or other garbage into the forest.
- Don't use flash photography when taking photos of wild animals.
- On the evening safari, the tour coordinator will shine a powerful torch to help you spot animals.
