Bhoothathankettu is a picturesque dam and tourist spot in Ernakulam district, Kerala. It is situated outside the village of Pindimana, about 10 km away from the town of Kothamangalam and 50 km away from the main city of Kochi. The dam offers breath-taking views of the Periyar River, lush green forests, and towering hills. The Forest Department offers boating packages in the dam.
You can hire a local guide at Bhoothathankettu. Listening to the mythology and history of the dam is an amusing experience. Boating options are available at the Dam. You may want to visit the nearby Sundari waterfalls as well. You need to trek about 1 kilometers through the forest to reach the old Bhoothathankettu dam. Explore the cave and nearby temple while you are there.
