Chellarkovil is a serene hill station in Idukki district, about 15 kilometres north of Thekkady and Kumily, right on the border with Tamil Nadu. It is known for its sweeping views of rolling hills, lush greenery and the cascading Chellarkovil waterfalls that tumble down the cliffs towards the plains below.

As part of the Kerala Forest Department ecotourism programme, the centre offers a viewpoint and watchtower with a telescope, bird watching, a botanical garden and a butterfly garden, along with a tented camping experience for visitors who want to stay overnight amid the Western Ghats.
